    Description

    This is a hand carved and painted Yellow-billed Loon Decoy.  It is a bit of mystery to us as there is no information regarding the carver or date it was made.  But it is a wonderful carving with a Loon in a preening position.  It is hand painted and feathers on the wings and tail are carved in relief.  It does have holes in the underneath as if it were intended to be displayed on some type of doweled stand. The photos are its best description.  It is near life sized, measuring 14 inches from the back of its head to its tail.  it is 5.5 inches tall, 4.5 inches wide, and weighs 2 pounds, 12 ounces.
    We get a few Common Loons in Utah but I have never seen a Yellow-billed Loon.  From their photos, they are a stunning bird and we thought this decoy a well done representation.  Pricing is a guess as we could not find another like it or appearing to be from the same carver.  We think if you own a cabin by a lake with Yellow-billed Loons, you will love this guy.   We invite your inspection and offer.  Shipping within the U.S. will be quite reasonable and we accept returns for any reason.
