    "As day dawns and the ground fog slowly dissipates, a pair of loons and their chicks glide along the surface of a secluded, island-dotted lake.  Suddenly, the male becomes alarmed by the presence of an intruder-a predator or perhaps an approaching motorboat-and begins the dramatic display often called "penguin dancing." Rising out of the water, paddling rapidly and beatings its wings, the male loon rushes toward the intruder, giving warning calls of distress in a high, tremolo voice.  This frenzied display is the loon's way of creating a diversion that will protect its young from harm."
