Description
This is a limited edition aquatint etching of a Common Loon Decoy by artist, Arthur Nevin. It is signed by the artist, dated 1960, and numbered 24/150.). We believe the date is the date the decoy was carved rather than the date of the etching. The print is matted and framed under glass and is in like new condition with bright colors.
Arthur Nevin is very well known for his etchings of waterfowl decoys. He would do a limited edition of 150 of each decoy Whoever the owners of other Nevin Loon Decoys are, they do not part with them as the loon etchings are very difficult to find. The actual print on the inside of the mat board measures 14.5 by 21 inches.
The outside of the frame is 21.5 by 28 inches.
Loons are a favorite bird of about anyone who owns a cabin by a lake which Loons frequent. They have such a distinctive call. With the etching we photographed a Common Loon Decoy we also have listed on eBay in case someone might wish to acquire them both. We have some shipping options that are quite reasonable, even for a matted print. (Note: One photo shows the matted etching and we find the mat board not to our exquisite taste. Our recommendation would be to discard the frame, glass and especially the matting and just ship the print. We always worry a bit about the glass breaking and damaging the print.)
