Description:  For sale here is a wonderful piece of Victorian, jet jewelry. The brooch is in the shape of a scimitar type sword and it's composed of faceted, black, glass jet stones that sparkle when they catch the light. They are mounted to a japanned/blackened metal backing. Jet was often worn for mourning during the Victorian Era, but jet was also fashionable. I haven't seen a jet piece in the form of a scimitar before so I found it quite interesting as well as it being a gorgeous piece. This brooch has stood the test of time well as the stones are intact and the black coating on the back of the metal frame is still mostly black. Measurements: Roughly 1 inch tall including the star by 1.75 inches wide not including the pin which extends an extra .25 inch or thereabouts.
Weight: 6.5 grams.
Condition: Very good, antique condition in keeping with age and use. The stones are intact although there may be a couple of fleabites and wear to the stones seem upon close inspection. The hinge and clasp are in good order. Please use the photos as a guide as they form part of the description and the condition of a piece is subjective.
