    Here is a beautiful well done 1976 carving of a “COMMON LOON” by the famous
    TOM AHERN
    of Bethlehem, PA.  He hand carved and hand painted this to resemble the real thing and did a magnificent job of it as can be seen in the pictures from the green head, red eye, black bill and the black & white checks on its back.  I have included in the pictures a copy of a LOON PHOTOGRAPH from the web so you can see how well he accomplished this feat.  This decoy/sculpture is in excellent condition but does have some missing paint spots on tip of bill and back tail feathers (see pictures).  It measures about 10 1/2" long, 4” wide and 3 5/8” tall.  Touch-up should be easy for the new owner.
    Tom Ahern’s work demands good prices.  A 15” COMMON LOON on his website is priced at 0.  I believe I have started this a fair value since it is smaller.
